Performing Arts
 
The performing arts center will focus on three core studies and may consist of the subjects below.
 
Theater
 
Acting-Learn the art of performing on stage plays, motion pictures etc.
 
Theater History- Discover the history of the theatre, from the ancient plays of the Greek and Romans to the latest musicals on Broadway and in the West End.
 
Directing-The ability to give guidance and instructions to (actors or musicians) in the rehearsal and performance of a work or to supervise a performance
 
Lighting Design-Work with the director, set designer, costume designer,  to create an overall 'look' for the show in response to the text, while keeping in mind issues of visibility
  
Costume Design-Designing and building actual costumes may be for a  theater or cinema performance 
 
 
Dance  
 
Jazz- Any of various dances characterized by the use of improvisation and influenced by rhythms and techniques of jazz music.
 
Tap- A dance in which the rhythm is sounded out by the clicking taps on the heels and toes of a dancer's shoes.
 
Ballet-  A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses
 
Hip-Hop- Mainly street dance styles, primarily danced to hip hop music, or that have evolved as a part of the hip hop culture.
 
Swing- This dance came about with the big band era and is danced to fast tempo swing music
 
Modern- A style of theatrical dance that rejects the limitations of classical ballet and favors movement deriving from the expression of inner
 
 
Music
 
History-The broader discipline of musicology that studies the composition, performance, reception, and criticism of music
 
Song-To vocalize songs or selections as a trained or professional singer
 
Lessons- Learn to play instruments, piano, drums, etc.
